tea at Yugen, kyoto

Yugen is located more centrally in Kyoto, and upon entering, you immediately find yourself at a modern bar. The host speaks excellent English and is very engaging, making conversation enjoyable. I tried both a sencha and a matcha, each with strong umami notes but incredibly smooth. You can also order wagashi here, which I found particularly interesting as they were less sweet than most. On the first floor, there’s a space for events, and on the second floor, you’ll find a gallery where beautiful ceramics are available for purchase.
